The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed to the Prime Minister that the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023 lasts 7 days. Because this option ensures that the total number of consecutive holidays is not too long, harmonizes the time off before and after Tet.

After consulting with members of the Government, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just submitted to the Prime Minister a plan for the Lunar New Year holiday and national day holiday in 2023.

According to The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs  said that 10/14 ministries and branches chose the 7-day Tet holiday (option 1). Specifically, civil servants and public employees will be off for the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday from Friday, January 20, 2023, to the end of Thursday, January 26, 2023 (ie, December 29 of the year of the Tiger to the end of the 5th day of the year). January of the year of the Rabbit).

Ministries: Culture, Sports and Tourism, Science and Technology, Education and Training choose the 9-day Tet holiday (option 2). Accordingly, civil servants and public employees will rest for the Lunar New Year 2023 from Saturday, January 21, 2023, to the end of Sunday, January 29, 2023 (ie, December 30 of the year of the Tiger until the end of the 8th day of the lunar calendar). The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor did not choose both options given by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs but proposed a separate plan, with a Lunar New Year break lasting 8 days. Based on the opinions of members of the Government, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs proposed the Prime Minister to choose option 1. Because this option ensures the total number of consecutive days off is not too long, ensuring harmonize the time off before and after Tet.

For employees, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that based on the actual conditions and vacation schedule for civil servants, public employees, employers arrange the Lunar New Year holiday schedule. for workers.

Specifically, for the Lunar New Year, the employer can choose one day before Tet and the first four days after Tet or two days before Tet and the first three days after Tet. At the same time, notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
