Structure of ASEAN unified market and production base

According to the ASEAN Economic Community Outline adopted at the 13th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN Economic Community formed in 2015 will aim to create ASEAN into: a common market and an integrated production base. regional linkages, a highly competitive economic region, a uniformly developed economic region, and an economic region that integrates with the world economy.
An ASEAN single market and production base consists of five core elements: 1) Free trade in goods; 2) free trade in services; 3) investment freedom; 4) free flow of capital and 5) free movement of skilled labor. In addition, the market and production base also include two important components: priority integration areas; food, agriculture and forestry.
From a consumption perspective, the AEC will be a single market. Through liberalization of trade in goods and services, consumers will be free to choose between the goods and services produced in the region as well as those produced in their home country. From a production perspective, AEC will be a single production facility. Through the free movement of factors of production such as capital, labor (and other inputs in the form of goods and services), ASEAN will be a single production area for manufacturers and suppliers of goods and services.
