On October 12, a court in Myanmar tried Aung San Suu Kyi on two more corruption charges, each of which was sentenced to 3 years in prison but will be served concurrently.

This is the latest of 11 charges against Aung San Suu Kyi, including 5 charges of corruption, alleged violation of state secret law and electoral fraud.

In early January, a military court in Myanmar sentenced Aung San Suu Kyi to four years in prison for three counts of importing and illegally possessing radio receivers and transmitters as well as as violating regulations on prevention of Covid-19 epidemic.

With this new ruling, Ms. Aung San Suu Ky, 77 years old, will have to serve a total of 26 years in prison.

Myanmar has been in a political stalemate since February 1, 2021 after the army arrested government leaders, regional and state chiefs and senior members of the National League for the People’s Party. owner (NLD) with allegations of electoral fraud.
